Harvest Crop

This Saturday, we will be hosting our Harvest Crop. We still have seats available, all you need to do is call ahead (519)291-5201, by Friday night and we can save a seat for you. Last weekend we were part of Scrapfest in Oshawa. We had a fantastic time and look forward to an exciting day Saturday with many enthusiastic scrapbookers. Also coming up in October we will be part of a crop for Juvenile Diabetis at the Missionary Church in Listowel (forms at the store). There have been many events in my life in the last little while. I seem to have some health issues and am trying to deal with them as best I can. This means a little more time away from the business for me. Also thanksgiving weekend, my oldest son got engaged, so there's a wedding to plan...so exciting. With Fall comes the changing of leaves and the reminder that we have so much to be Thankful for. With having said that...I'm thankful for my scrapbooking friends.

Once again we will be hosting our Harvest Crop. It will be held on Saturday October 23 from 9-5 at the Listowel Christian School. There will be door prizes, a silent auction and as give aways this year a 12x12 album. There will also be a warm lunch and lots of socializing with fellow scrapbookers. As you may know, I'm not great with computers, and my blog has been down for some time. But the great news is, it's fixed again. Thanks to Simon. This summer has been busy. Jeff and I have just finished celebrating our 25th anniversary on the weekend. It was a day we will not soon forget. I think for me the best part was having our love ones around. Now as fall is fast approaching it's toime to get back to routine and classes. Once again sorry about the problems on our blog.

February 14th has come and past. Special for me as I shared my 25th Valentines with my sweetheart (Jeff). Yes we had a short courtship, no regrets. As I write here today, I can't help but remember where I was one year ago (Jamaica), now I have three sons in the Dominican (Jeremy, Paul and Simon), while my younger two spent last night winter camping in our back yard with 11 friends, sleeping in a snow fort built inside a snow hill. This is the second time they have done this in February already. Oh to be young and enjoy the snow and cold sooo.... much. This week I have four shippments comming in, and before the end of March there should be at least another four, all new product (can't wait). My card classes are going well. The next big event for me is the LCS Crop on March 6th, they host 70 women from all across Ontario for a fun filled day. Then will be March Break, Jeff & I are taking our two youngest to Florida for 10 days (can almost feel the heat already). Following that will be SCRAPFEST, we are taking a larger booth again this year, so we can pass on more deals and new product to our loyal costumers and friends. If I don't see you before then, I'll see ya there. Keep your thoughts happy and positve and all will be well. Here's to fond memories!

Thoughts and excitement!!!

Wow, I can't believe January is half over already. I have been going to physio since the end of December, twice a week. They say it will take some time to relieve the pain in my back. It seems I have herniated thrautic discs (4) in between my shoulder blades. I was told this is from an injury that occured approimately two years ago. Funny but I don't remeber being injured. But physio sure helps me to move about easier. I'm excited and looking forward to Scrapfest 2010, plans are well on their way. New product is coming into the store weekly. Classes are up and running again, stop in to check out the schedule. As I finish my 2009 books and plan for 2010, I can't help but get excited for the new year. I'm hoping to revamping my store layout and offer new deals, be patient as we get ready for all this. This year promises to be a memorial year for my family. My oldest son has just bought a new house and is renovating it. Our son Paul is graduating from Redeemer University with a major in Youth Ministry/minor in Pre-Seminar and will continue with his studies in the fall at Calvin Seminary in Michigan. Simon has transfer from Conestoga College to Mohawk in a totally different course. From Business to Computer Engineering and Networking and he's totally loving it. Tyler, the youngest son is finishing grade 12 and discovering his future. He's planning on returning to highschool in the fall to pick up some courses, it seems he's had a career choice change over. After doing his 4 credit co-op at the YFC/Youth Unlimited Centre in Listowel he has decided to pursue a career in Youth Ministry or Missions. Last of our children is Candice, she will be returning to LDSS in the fall in grade 11. She loves her languages and is looking towards an exchange student trip (she's hoping to go to Berlin), we'll see. This year Jeff and I will be celebrating 25 years of marriage. Funny but I think, no I know I love him more today than I did the day I married him. As a couple we have been truly blessed. We look forward to visits at the store, coffee is always on and free. Drop in and see us some time, we value your friendhsips. From my house to yours be happy, think positive and laugh often, these are the best memories.

Tonight as I sit here next to the tree, I marvel at what God has given me. First his Son (happy birthday Jesus), then across the room, my loving husband Jeff and quietly down stairs my loving children (Jeremy, Paul, Simon, Tyler and Candice). I have been truely blessed with dear friends, family and a loving church family. This year our church received a new pastor, we are so excited to have pastor Ralph and his family. We are thankful for all who entered our lives weather through church, family, friends, or customers. It is at this time of year that we review the year past and look forward to the year ahead. We're getting ready for the crop in Harriston on Saturday. New orders are coming in all the time, some not as quickly as we'd like. Monday night, at 6:30 we have our first Christmas card class, we have a few seats still available. Cost is only $10 for three cards. If you'd like to join us, just call. Christmas is just around the corner, and we're getting all our sales into place. As well, the Christmas draw will be back again this year. Stop in and check out the prize. Life is good, as I've started to spend more time reflecting on my family and friends. Looking forward to the love and cheer that goes with the celebration of Christ birth. Talk to you all soon.

New Product

Wow! What a great garage sale we had last week. We will definately be hosting one again next year during SummerPalooza. I had several people ask if I was going out of business? The answer is NO WAY. I was simply making room for new product. This week we had several new shipments arrive. BO-BUNNY, Kaisier Kraft and Imaginice. We look forward to the fall with Crops and Shows to attend, and who knows, maybe even a retreat. This past Sunday, my family had professional pictures taken. It was so hot. We had them taken outside with five different backdrops. When all was said and done we had 147 pictures to choose from. We have an appointment in September to narrow our selection done. Moments like these make me so proud of all my children (5). They are so different but work so well together, and my hubby looks adorable as always. This week we're heading up North to the cottage for some family time. I hope to get some more great outdoors pics that I can use on my favourite BO-BUNNY papers. Anyways, enough chatter for now. Drop in and see us some time soon. We'd love to hear how your holidays are going. Wishing you fondest moments and memories.

Excitement is in the air...

This week is our (Listowel) Summerpalooza. We as a town are creating a festival with lots of exciting events and entertainment to celebrate what Listowel has to offer. We at First Choice are celebrating by setting up a garage sale tent right infront of our front door. Inside the store we will have many in stock papers on sale for $.25 per sheet along with many items reduced to 50% off, to make room for all our new product we have ordered. To the first 50 people we will be giving away a free goodie bag (with purchase).
Plans are also well on there way for our Harvest Crop. It will be held Saturday October 24th at the Listowel Christian School Gym from 9-4. Cost is $40/person. Limited seating, so register early. August 13th - 15th Listowel is holding "SUMMER PALOOZA". During this event we will be holding a Garage Sale, outside our store in a covered tent. For this garage sale, we are excepting gently used stamps and tools (we charge only 2%). To sell items from our garage sale we ask that you drop off your priced items at the store by August 11th. Any items not sold are to be picked up on or by August 19th. ALSO....in store we will be having incredible sales, with a huge amount of our papers on sale for 25 cents per sheet (to make room for new stock) as well as many clear out items. Springing with excitement...

As many of you know, on Saturday March 21st our store front was part of a crop in Kincardine. It was a blast. The women were so friendly and kind, we really enjoyed our day with them. Congratulations to the women hosting it, job well done. Hockey season is coming to an end, so our trophy business right now is in high gear. While keeping the store front going and tending to our customers, we are busy taking in inventory and pricing new product for SCRAPFEST. The count down is on... less than two weeks, we're so excited. Also coming soon is the Crop in Drayton for ovarian cancer (May2nd). Did you know that's National Scrapbooking Day? Stay tuned, have we got a surprise for you. Looking forward to see many of you gals on April 17th and 18th. Till then, happy scrapping.

Jamaica and now home...

Sorry it's been a while. I've been busy since arriving home from Jamaica. This is a picture my hubby took of me in front of the enourmous floral arrangement that was changed every other day (they were beautiful). The resort we stayed at was perfect. The food was great, the people were extremely friendly and the grounds were beautiful. I hope to return again some day. Now that I'm back, it's back to business. First it was catch up at the store, and last Saturday we were part of the LCS crop in Listowel. There were about 70 women in attendance. We had a great day. Now I'm in the process of preparing for Scrapfest, it's my first year as a vendor, I'm so excited. On March the 21st I will be attending a crop in Kincardine, as a vendor. I've missed communicating with you all. Due to the busy schedule for March, I will not be doing classes. All my spare time right now goes into building hockey trophies, year end is coming up. Just wanted to let you all know I'm back and looking forward to meeting with you all soon.

For Christmas I got a calendar from the kids about "Mama says". The quote for February is " Mama says, it's not what you reach for, but how you reach for it that matters". The Bible verse that goes with this quote is from Matthew 5:16. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Wise words to live by. I know as the kids were growing up, we always were reminding them to mind their manners, and the feelings of others around them. Now as I sit and watch them grow into young adults, I can sit back and say, job well done, they have done me proud.

Ending one chapter and starting another

With each new year comes the endless hours of book work to end the previous. Right now I'm home doing T-4's while Henriette is at the store doing inventory count (she's just about done). We're trying to plan out the next few months with exciting classes to add to the crops we will be participating in. Yesterday we got an order from B0-Bunny, with lots of new and exciting product. In this order were two of our upcoming classes, the first being a Happy Word Book (using the Flirty paper line) and the second is a two page layout titled Simply Unforgettable (using the Unforgettable paper line). Samples of both of theses classes will be posted in the store and hopefully on the blog by Monday. Now in regards to ending one chapter and starting another, as many of you know, last year I dealt with a lot of health issues. We''ll this year I still have tests to go through, but oddly enough, I'm not feeling to bad. So here's hoping its really nothing. In December my hubby decided we should look at trading our van. It was going to need some up keep and a paint job in the spring, so we did. We now own a Chevy Trail Blazer (blue), it has more gadgets than I know what to do with, including a sun roof. Also, this is really cool... on Friday Jan 2nd my hubby got called in for a meeting with his boss. We thought it was just to recap the past year and list off where improvements needed to be made for the coming year. But to our surprize (since we have been with the company for 20 years), they wanted to reward my hubby for years of service. So to make a long story short, we're going to Lucea Jamaica leaving Feb 12th and returning Feb 20th (all inclusive, totally free). I've already started setting stuff aside. We're really hoping that the good times just keep on coming and that health and happiness reign forever.

Wow, it's been a while since I've updated. I'm not going to give excuses. Here's a little info on what's going on at First Choice Trophies & Scrapbooking. We have lots going on for the next few months.
Jan. 31st from 9-9 we are taking part in an all day crop in Chatham. Proceeds from this crop will be going to Brain Injury Chatham Kent Club. If you'd like to register or to find out more info, call 519-351-0297.
Feb. 7th from 9-4 we are particpating in a crop in Palmerston for the Youth Missions to Mexico. It will be held at the Palmerston Evangelical Missionary Church. To register call 519-343-3740 or drop in to First Choice Trophies & Scrapbooking.
Mar. 7th from 9-4 LCS Crop. This is a fundraiser for the Listowel Christian School and is held at the school, on hyway 23 just north of Listowel. To register call 519-291-3624 or stop in at First Choice Trophies & Scrapbooking.

Many people have been asking about classes, we have some planned, but are waiting on inventory that should be in around Jan. 8th, please be paitient with us. As soon as we know the product is here, we will post them.

Just a reminder that we have classes for the month of November, with room still available. For the month of December we will be taking a break from classes to prepare for some great ones beginning in January.

Tuesday Nov. 18th - Three Christmas cards using an Inkadoo stamp set. Cost is $20.00 and you get to keep the stamp set with an acrylic block.

Thursday Nov. 20th - A double page "Noel" layout using the new Basic Grey wassil papers. Cost $25.00 and you take home a versa mark pen.

Thursday Nov. 27th - A Kaiser Kraft Christmas album, using the new Basic Grey wassil papers. This album would make a great Christmas gift.

Cost is $25.00 There is a sample of this album in the store using Kaiser Craft Papers.

We require payment for the class at time of registration.
All Altered Item Classes are $25.00 unless otherwise stated
All other classes $18.00.
Classes are filled on a first come basis. If you would like a kit, but cannot attend the class, payment is still required so we can prepare the correct number of kits.
We require 24 hrs cancellation notice; if this is not given you will be charged for the class.
Children are not permitted to stay unattended in the store while you attend a class.
We reserve the right to cancel a class if the required minimum number of participants is not met (8)
Basic class kit is required for all classes, if additional supplies are needed, you will be notified ahead of time.
